(below) *Text and Video Copyright © 2007 Channel54News.com™ Channel 54 is working with the Food and Drug Administration at this hour to get the word out about a massive milk and cottage cheese recall in the area shown on your screen now. It seems a computer glitch at one of the main dairies which service many branch distributors in the region caused about 80,000 gallons of bull sperm to be accidentally mixed into the milk supply. The sperm is routinely collected from thousands of bulls and normally frozen for later use, but a software bug somehow routed a tank of the sperm to the consumer milk distribution system, and the error was not realized until consumer complaints began filtering in to retail grocery stores locally. It's unknown at this time if the sperm poses any specific disease or health hazard, or if the problem is just one of taste and sensibilities, but it's a fairly sure bet there aren't many consumers who want to drink the substance even if it's safe. A spokesperson for the Food and Drug Administration said they're baffled at how few complaints have been received, given that the sperm-to-milk ratio was pretty high -- about one third, admitted one official. The processing plant has apologized and says it will do whatever is necessary to remove the affected products from store shelves, but admits that will be tough because markets have been selling the concoction to consumers for about three weeks now and countless hundreds of thousands of home refrigerators are, or were, stocked with it.
